Okay, this may be a stupid question but I just thought of it tonight and I'm seriously losing sleep over it.

At the library here, how do they figure out which books go in the fiction section and which go in the non-fiction section?

I believe most would still belong in fiction, though perhaps the "Historical Fiction" section instead.

All that stuff that happened to those people is real to them though, isn't it?

Indeed, and events written within works of Historical Fiction are also real. An author may speculate, however, upon the feelings, spirit, manners, and social conditions of the subject. Non-fiction allows only for the presentation of fact.

Oh, that makes sense, I guess. Do you spend a lot of times in the library?

Where I am from, information is all stored electronically as opposed to on paper, but I do often spend time reading.

We have a lot of stuff in my world stored electronically too, but books are still mostly used for most things.
