"Doctor Carter is fine." Sam cut in and then listened to his questions which were surprising. They were in-depth and thoughtful and the sort of thing that required thinking beyond standard textbooks, beyond most higher-level discussion than should be happening at this point in the curriculum.

"Well, yes. In fact, the multiverse theory more or less guarantees that there is. It's theorized that an infinite number of alternate universes are possible. Flight, superpowers, silica life forms, these are all equally as plausible as a universe where the only difference is that I have dark hair." The first part of his question was easy because it was literally just confirming what he'd supposed.

The second too more thought she smiled just a little. "Well, the idea of an Einstein–Rosen bridges has been around a long time. That you could, by extensive calculations and an enormous amount of energy, puncture space-time by connecting to otherwise unrelated points in space and allow instantaneous transmission from the point of origin to the destination. Of course, this is all theoretical, but if your interested in learning more why not stay after and we can discuss some research I've found particularly helpful on the subject."

She had to move on before she got more sidetracked but a mind like that could be an asset to the Stargate program and she'd be a fool to not vet him further.

The lecture ran another forty-five minutes and ranged over topics heavy enough that many in the class tuned out, except one very avid listener in the front row.
