75th Transformation [Voice]

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Oh god, oh god... it hurts.

You bitch, I'll kill you. Ahhh, I'm going to kill you.

I can't- I can't- I just have to pull-

AGH! Damn it!

Somebody, please, oh god it hurts so bad. Please not again, please-

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ooc: Long story short, Cain pushed the button and Sam got cursed with a Saw trap. He was put in one a few years ago when he first got to the City by the girl from Saw. He thinks she's back and is doing this again. Voice for replies, action for Rosella.]

[Her first instinct, of course, is to yank away from whoever it is that's trying to stop her and chase after the people taking Sam away, because she's come all this way and she's scared and she's not ready to let him out of her sight yet, not when she still doesn't know for certain that he's going to be all right.

Fortunately, the combination of the hold on her shoulders and the sound of Chase's voice is enough to break that instinct, though she does go stiff as Sam gradually disappears from sight.]

No, I can't. I can't, he's not all right, I have to--something...

He's in the best hands he can be. What you need to do now is come and sit down, and have some faith in him being a fighter.

[Because he'd bloody well better be. Chase has just pronounced another girl Rosella's age dead, and that's the last grieving loved one he feels like informing today.]

Come and sit down.

[That much, at least, she can indeed have faith in. Sam once saved his whole world, and she knows it--and he died trying to save it a second time, too. Except that she should've just stuck with the part about him saving the world, and not the part about him dying from it, because now tears are starting to well up in her eyes again, and she's swallowing hard to try to keep the lump in her throat down.

But short, direct orders are good. They're simple and easy to follow and she doesn't have to think too much about them, and she can just do them. So she goes where Chase indicates, and sits down with her hands neatly folded in her lap and a dull look in her eyes.]

Did it help? Was it enough--the pressure and moving his legs and things? What will they do? When can I see him? I'm sorry, so sorry, I didn't know I shouldn't have taken the--the knives and things out, I thought it was hurting him--I just--

What you did for him, applying pressure when you did, it probably saved his life.

[Chase crouches in front of her chair, somewhere near her eyeline. No need to mention that he'd have bled out a lot slower without removing the trap, that's something he can explain when they're sure her friend will come through in as few pieces as possible.]

And it could be your blood in there right now saving his life again. The surgeon's going to have to repair the damage to his torn muscle tissue and close up his wounds, but I didn't see anything there that can't be fixed.

[Rosella bites her lip, her shoulders hunched and her head down, and listens as Chase speaks. She certainly doesn't feel like she saved anyone's life; if she'd done that, then she wouldn't be sitting here in a hospital waiting room, shaking and shuddering and wondering when she's going to get to see Sam again. This isn't how stories of saving people are supposed to go at all.]

But they can--someone can do that? Someone will just fix him and...

["And he won't have to die again", she would've finished, but she can't make herself get the words out.]

Someone will fix him right up. I promise. In the meantime we should get you cleaned up or people will think I made a trauma victim sit in the waiting room for a chat.

[Chase rocks back on his heels, glancing across toward reception.]

Why don't I get you a chair and take you up to the women's locker room. Personal service.

A what?

[And then it sort of sinks in that oh, yes, she's a mess, isn't she? And it's not such a bad idea, anyway, since it'll give her something else to think about, rather than just sitting and agonizing over the waiting.]

If it's all right...I don't want to get in the way, or make trouble, or--and if there's any word, you'll come get me, won't you? Or--have someone come, or--something?

[At The Hospital]

[identity profile] worksmart.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
[She is a mess, although nowhere near as much of a mess as her friend.]

He's going to be in there a while. How about I wait and bring you back down?

[Offer made, he's up and on his way to the rack of fold-out wheelchairs against the reception wall, kicking one out into alignment with relatively practised ease. Not much of a carriage, but he doesn't want to force her to traipse upstairs on wobbly feet.]

I'd get a page if anything happened.

A-All right. That sounds...fine.

[Later, when she has more time to think and less reason to panic, she'll worry over how she's ever going to get all this blood out of her clothes. But for now, she's trying very hard not to think at all.

The chair Chase brings over is intriguing to her, though. She's not entirely sure why he wants her to sit in it, rather than just following him to wherever it is he wants to take her, but after everything that's just happened, she's not about to question a single word he says. If he wants her in the chair, then she'll sit--and that's exactly what she does.]

How long will it be, do you think? Will it--no, it won't be soon, will it.
